SIGNAL INGESTION

Wearable data needs time, source and synchronization context

Sensors and wearables can emit repeated or delayed data. The ingestion boundary must distinguish device time from receive time, retain source identity and make synchronization/replay behavior deterministic.

01

Profile the source

Define supported signal/measurement types, device identifiers, sampling or sync behavior and the units expected from the integration.

02

Normalize carefully

Preserve raw provenance while mapping values into the application/FHIR model; mark unsupported or ambiguous quality states instead of silently coercing them.

03

Handle replay

Use correlation/idempotency rules so reconnect and batch synchronization do not create duplicate observations or lose the original measurement time.
